Installations & Modernizations

Installing new or relocating existing crane and hoist systems can be a disruptive process - unless you work with a provider who can do the job right. From structural, mechanical, and electrical installation through testing and certification, and even operator and maintenance training, we'll complete your installation on time and to your complete satisfaction.

No more problems with coordination and conflict between different contractors. No more problems meeting tight schedules or strict production demands. No more problems installing systems in areas with limited access. Crane and hoist installations with Somatex are easy, efficient, and affordable. We offer second and third shift production schedules to accommodate your needs. And we even do installations on weekends and holidays. We're there when you need us, with thorough quality and careful attention to safety on every installation.

If your equipment needs to change to meet your changing needs, we offer the most complete retrofit and modernization capabilities in New England. We specialize in rebuilding existing bridge crane and hoisting equipment, and in modernizations and engineering improvements to bring older equipment up to current OSHA and ASME/ANSI standards. Work can be performed in our facility or completed at your site. In most cases, we can work around your schedule so you equipment is still available for service, reducing costly production time.

Overhead Crane, Hoist, & Monorail Inspections

Thorough crane and hoist inspections can save you significant time and money. And no one provides more thorough periodic/annual inspection services than Somatex. We carefully inspect over 40 structural, mechanical, and electrical areas to check code compliance and identify items requiring maintenance or service. From bridges to brakes, controls to clearances, runways to resistors, rope guards to running sheaves, loadblocks to limit switches, motors to mounts, and much more. Our inspectors are trained to know the equipment and what to look for. By catching problems early, we'll help you reduce maintenance and repair costs, keep your equipment operating productively, and help you avoid costly downtime and safety problems.

Upon completion of your inspection, you receive a detailed report that includes field checklist, notes on any deficiencies and rope/chain/hook certifications. We issue certification documents showing compliance with all OSHA CFR 29 Part 1910.179, National Electric Code, CMAA, and ANSI B30 requirements. If any units are found to be in non-compliance, we give you complete repair quotations, and we'll perform the repair work promptly upon your approval.

Vehicle Lift Inspections - Our Newest Service!

Somatex now offers inspections of vehicle lifts per ANSI/ALI ALOIM:2008 regulations. This newest regulation from the Automotive Lift Institute (ALI) went in to effect September of 2008. Lifts at the very least should be inspected annually or more frequently if specified by the equipment manufacturer. Our inspectors are fully qualified and trained to inspect all types of lifts including 2-post surface mounted, multi-post, low/midrise frame engaging, drive-on parallelogram, and scissor styles. Like our other material handling inspection services, upon completion you will receive a detailed report including a field check-list and notes on any deficiencies. If any units are found to be in non-compliance, we give you complete repair quotations, and we'll perform the repair work promptly upon your approval.
